About R.J. Furness

R.J. Furness writes picture books filled with heart, imagination and a love of the natural world. He still hasn't fully qualified as a grown-up, which is probably why he loves writing for younger readers.

Often inspired by animals, nature and the little wonders we sometimes forget to notice, R.J.'s stories are created to entertain young readers while leaving them with something meaningful. Through his books, R.J. explores themes such as friendship, perseverance, appreciating the world around us and discovering that sometimes the most extraordinary things can be found in the most ordinary moments.

R.J. lives in Southport, England, with his wife and children. When he isn't writing, he enjoys reading, walking in nature and seeking out magic wherever he can find it.

Above all, R.J. believes that a picture book can be more than a story. It can make a child laugh, wonder, dream, think differently - and perhaps see a little more magic in the world around them.
